The idea of implementing near-rings in GAP comes from our needs to test conjectures related to our PhD-work. Therefore all the previous work done by Erhard Aichinger, Jürgen Ecker, Roland Eggetsberger and Christof Nöbauer may be seen as a preparation to this project, but in particular [Aic95a], [Aic95b] and [Egg92].
