Available equipment

Currently available for the research of the algebra-group are one Sun-workstation, a Macintosh Performa 6400, a Macintosh SE/30, and a 486DX PC. This machinery is already shared by the staff and for teaching activities, thus not available for this project.

Additionally, from the previous project there are four Pentium PC's with 16MB RAM together with a desktop printer. They are running under the free operating system Linux and will be exclusively available for this project. Currently they perform the following tasks:

1. providing access to various internet services: email, www, database for literature (e.g., Zentralblatt für Mathematik), Intranet for the project, internet publication;
2. hosting sophisticated text-editing facilities (emacs, TeX);
3. providing remote access (via X-Windows) to some fast computers available at the EDV-Zentrum of our university (HP and Silicon Graphics mainframes), where we have GAP and SONATA installed.
